Chief Technology Officer - build the platform behind Europe's car and property deals

When someone finds their next car on mobile.de, AutoScout24, leboncoin or Blocket, the first five minutes decide whether the deal happens. Kaisa is the engagement layer that makes those minutes count - capturing, qualifying and routing every lead between Europe's leading marketplaces and 100,000+ dealers, in real time. We are the category leader in our market, profitable, and we already run AI products that generate real revenue. Now we're looking for the CTO who will lead our next chapter.

The mandate

In January 2026, Monterro - the Nordic B2B software growth investor - became Kaisa's majority owner. The plan is ambitious: strengthen the core marketplace platform, make AI the default in both product and engineering, and build the technical foundation for our direct-to-dealer expansion - a market opportunity of €2.4bn, where the acquisition of Danish Carbuddii this spring was the first step. Technology leadership sits at the center of that plan. This is a scaling mandate, not a turnaround.

You will join the management team, report to CEO Daniel Petrell, and own technology end to end: strategy, architecture, engineering and technical operations. The engineering organization is ~20 people across Uppsala/Stockholm, Poland, North Macedonia and Denmark - senior, capable, and ready for a leader they want to follow.

What you will do

• Set and own the technology strategy - concrete enough to drive architecture decisions, priorities and hiring.

• Lead and mentor the engineering organization: build trust, shape the team structure, and recruit the people the AI transformation requires.

• Be the counterpart our CPO needs: balance product roadmap against platform investment with well-grounded arguments.

• Make AI-assisted development the default way of working, and own the architecture behind AI products built on our proprietary interaction data - together with our Chief AI Architect.

• Evolve an AWS-native platform (ISO 27001:2022, ~19 production deployments/month, 99.8% availability target) - including completing the transition off our legacy stack at full delivery speed.

What you bring

• 10+ years in software, including senior engineering leadership in B2B SaaS.

• Leadership that creates trust and stability - a mentor who forms a team into a unit.

• Hands-on architectural depth: you can credibly challenge technology choices, and you care about the platforms behind the product - with a bias for modular design that adapts as technology shifts.

• Demonstrated AI conviction: you have driven AI-assisted development and know how to build AI products without painting them into a corner.

• An engineering degree or the equivalent depth from a self-taught path. Fluent English; Swedish is not required - experience of Nordic working culture is.

• You can be at our Uppsala office 2-3 days per week (many colleagues commute from Stockholm).
